Throw Back Thursday.
So I've been toying with this blog idea for a while now. Finding the time in between updating the shops instagram, twitter & serving is proving to be challenging. However we have a bit of time and to be honest we couldn't have picked a better day than a Thursday to get this one on the go.
As we all know. ( well if your'e down with the kids ) Thursdays = Throwback. If you aren't familiar with this type of throwing back I'll give you a quick explanation. Basically photos of old are shared on social media tagged with hashtags such as #TBT & #ThrowbackThursday. If you aren't familiar with a hashtag then...... Well thats for another day, we're rambling on a touch.
This is Heart Of Gold's very own throwback. We will travel, mostly through the 90's. We will see some fashion no no's although at the time they were massively popular amongst teenagers. Back when gold wasn't so expensive the shop used to be mobbed, more so at Christmas with people waiting hours to get in. Some of the gems ( no pun intended ) will be listed below.
Sovergien Rings... These came in Fulls & Half's or if you were on the naughty list you got a George & the Dragon.
Rag Doll Pendants.... These came in many forms. Clowns, Naughty Dolls, Dennis The Menis & many more.
Character Bangles.... Have anything you can think of laser cut out of a sheet of gold and made into a bangle or pendant. You name it we had it, if we didn't have it then we got it made. Unfortunately I couldn't find any old pictures or pendants of fairy babies holding balloons that had your name in them. those were the best. Glasgow was like a homage to Walt Disney, the amount of characters that were on show.
Unfortunately the photos on show were all I could find and or had in the store but 100% if you were from Glasgow you had some form of personalised jewellery. I mean some of the classics I missed. Sandwich bangles, Name earrings, double finger rings and even triple finger rings.
However times change and the youth of today would rather iPhones & Canada Goose than a Winny The Pooh Pendant and a Triple Fingered Ring. They say things go in cycles so you never know when all the above will be back in fashion.
Well blog number two is in the bag, it's pack up time. I hope you've enjoyed our Throwback.
P.S If anyone has any of the above jewellery we would love to see it so please get in touch.
